Description
Phosphatidylserine (abbreviated Ptd-L-Ser or PS) is a phospholipid and is a component of the cell membrane. As phosphatidylserine is located entirely on the inner monolayer surface of the plasma membrane (and of other cellular membranes) and it is the most abundant anionic phospholipids. Therefore phosphatidylserine may make the largest contribution to interfacial effects in membranes involving non-specific electrostatic interactions.
Uses for Phosphatidylserine
Phosphatidylserine supplements are touted as a natural remedy for a variety of health conditions, including:
- Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Multiple sclerosis
- Stress
